As part of their advocacy work around the G20 2018 in Argentina, ICAR, FOCO and Fundación SES are pleased to host an expert roundtable on ‘Fair and Accountable Transitions in the Future of Work’ in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 30th, 2018.

The Argentine Presidency of the G20 identified the Future of Work as one of its main priorities. Indeed, the G20 Labor and Employment Ministers (LEMM)’s Declaration heavily focused on this issue, setting out a set of recommendations for an inclusive, fair, and sustainable Future of Work (see ICAR statement on the LEMM declaration).

Ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit on November 30th and December 1st, 2018, ICAR and its local partners FOCO and Fundación SES are organizing a high level multi-stakeholder roundtable entitled: Fair and Accountable Transitions in the Future of Work: labor rights, decent work, roles and responsibilities.

The objective of the event is to discuss and promote concrete recommendations to the G20, bearing in mind the SDGs agenda, in relation to fair and accountable transitions in the Future of Work. Participants from governments, trade unions, civil society organizations, and companies from different Latin American countries, will explore the following questions:

• How can the Just Transition framework be applied to the Future of Work?
• How can human rights be safeguarded in new forms of employment and production?
• How can labor inclusion and social protection be safeguarded through inclusive public policies?
• What educational policies are needed to prepare for the Future of Work?
• What is the road ahead in the Future of Work? What are the next steps within the G20 and the SDGs agenda?
