We stand with all those who rise up to confront a system built on white supremacy. We join you in rage at injustice and racism, in sorrow for loved ones lost, and commitment to build an America that honors its constitutional obligation to respect the humanity of all people.
As a corporate accountability organization, our weighing in on yesterday’s murders may seem outside our lane, but the importance of ensuring that the public interest isn’t subsumed by systems that perpetuate power imbalances and abuse is core to what we do.
We know that we have a long way to go, in learning our history of exclusion, rejecting language that incites violence, and understanding and addressing the deep-rooted connections between racism and misogyny that contributed to yesterday’s murders and continue to perpetuate a culture that leaves our Asian brothers and sisters vulnerable and a system unaccountable. The International Corporate Accountability Roundtable grieves with all those hurting today and stands committed to ensuring we build a society that protects our values and our people.
