Apparel Data Directory

ICAR is pleased to announce the release of the second version of the Apparel Data Directory.

The directory shows which organizations are generating, or will be generating, public information related to labor rights in the apparel industry. The impetus behind the directory came from a meeting that ICAR and C&A Foundation jointly hosted in October 2016, which was attended by data generating, gathering, and policy advocacy organizations. During this meeting, participants agreed that having a map of available data on labor rights in the apparel industry would help to facilitate collaboration, identify gaps in available information, and ensure that the data being produced is useful for policy advocacy organizations.

The directory is limited to data that is publicly available and that is updated regularly to enable comparison between peers and over time. The second release of the directory includes 38 organizations. It’s a solid start and we hope it will grow over time to provide a full picture of data across the apparel sector.

Bringing together the owners, producers, and users of data gives us a chance to make sure information gets to the people and organizations that need it, and that the data producing organizations receive feedback on the type of disclosure that is really useful.

Version 2.0 of the Apparel Data Directory can be downloaded here.
